Veterans Chaplaincy is about carrying the Good News to warrior-spirited Veterans — meeting them exactly where they are.
My grandfather served in both Korea and Vietnam. He was steady, stoic, and steely-eyed. He used to tell me, “If you’re deployed and you ever find yourself lost or alone — find a Chaps. They’ll be your friend no matter what. Always trust the Chaps.”
That’s something most recruits learn in boot camp — and it follows them throughout their service.
Military Chaplaincy is one of the oldest spiritual support traditions in history — tracing back to St. Martin of Tours, a Roman soldier in the 4th century, who is actually celebrated on Veterans Day. When the U.S. Army was established, the Chaplain Corps were the second branch created only after the infantry. The Navy followed suit shortly after.
When you’re on active duty or deployed, the Military Chaplain is always there for both believers and non-believers — a safe place, a listener, and a trusted friend. But what happens after separation?
When Veterans transition out, many lose access to the Chaplaincy support they always relied on.
The Veterans Chaplaincy initiative exists to bridge that gap — connecting the unique pastoral care of Military Chaplains with the civilian church community — so Veterans never have to walk alone.

We are a non-denominational community of Veterans and chaplains walking together through faith, service, and recovery in Northern California.

At this time, I’m a team of one — a Veteran with a calling to serve other Veterans as a Chaplain. I served in the U.S. Navy from 2002–2015, deploying at sea and to Afghanistan. Through my life experiences, I’ve met many Veterans seeking healing and have seen the Lord’s power to restore through love, grace, and community. I’ve also connected with pastors who long to minister to Veterans but feel unprepared to navigate the unique needs of this calling.

We offer peer support, spiritual mentoring, prayer, and spiritual counseling for Veterans and their families. We also help Shepherds understand the battles Veterans carry home, so they can better guide and care for the sheepdogs in their flock.
If your a Veteran looking to connect to other Veterans you're welcome to come to Real Life Church Sacramento.
